In April 2019, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) contracted with TMF Health Quality Institute for a pilot project to conduct 30 site visits with providers currently enrolled in the Vaccines for Adults (VFA) program. During these site visits, TMF evaluated providers’ understanding of the VFA program, provided education about the program requirements, and assessed the storage and handling of VFA-only storage units to ensure vaccine viability. CDPH selected the 30 sites — all sites were dually enrolled in the Vaccines for Children and the VFA programs — in Kern, Tulare and Los Angeles counties to be reviewed. CDPH scheduled the site visits and booked them over a two-week period during May and June 2019. In this report, TMF provides feedback to CDPH about the findings from these site visits, including the implementation of the survey tool itself, trends noted across multiple sites and issues identified as opportunities for technical assistance or follow-up.
