Quality Improvement Specialist Caitlin Ferguson, MHA, Invited to Share Her COVID-19 Vaccination Rate Success Story

Austin, Texas – Mar. 6, 2024 — TMF Health Quality Institute's work with the Birchwood of Beeville nursing home was recently featured in a national joint Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) webinar on Jan. 31, 2024.

As of Dec. 31, 2023, only 37% of nursing home residents were up to date with their COVID-19 vaccinations, despite being vulnerable to infection. Continuing efforts to increase vaccination rates among residents are urgently needed to protect against outcomes of respiratory illness. TMF Quality Improvement Specialist Caitlin Ferguson, MHA, was invited by the CDC and CMS to join a panel of nursing home teams to discuss strategies for increasing immunization rates in long-term care.

“It was an honor for one of our consultants to be selected to present during this webinar and share best practices on a national stage,” said Tom Manley, CEO and president of TMF Health Quality Institute. During the webinar, Ms. Ferguson shared how she worked with the Birchwood of Beeville nursing home to help the facility overcome COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy and fatigue, schedule onsite vaccination clinics and address staff turnover to ensure residents received timely vaccinations.
