Austin, Texas – Oct. 25, 2017 – The Saline Med-Peds Group, located in Benton, Arkansas, has received a 2017 TMF Physician Practice Quality Improvement Award for improving patient outcomes while applying innovative strategies to advance quality health care.
Presented by TMF Health Quality Institute, the Arkansas Academy of Family Physicians and the Arkansas Osteopathic Medical Association (AOMA), the award recognizes physician practices that have exemplary performance on nationally tracked measures for preventive care and chronic care management and effectively use technology and data systems to deliver high-quality care.
“These physician practices are setting standards for providing care that is effective, reliable and patient-focused,” said Steven L. Gates, DO, FACOI, chair of the TMF board of trustees. “Their leadership in process improvement is helping to transform health care and creating better outcomes for their patients.”
Award recipients demonstrate improvements in key clinical areas, such as hypertension control, influenza immunization, diabetes management and cancer screenings. They also actively incorporate health information technology and strategies to promote patient engagement and improve the patient experience.
The award criteria align with goals established by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to create more efficient, patient-centered health care systems while promoting the prevention of chronic disease.
“We congratulate Saline Med-Peds Group for its progress in integrating important data reporting processes and strategies to make patients partners in their care,” said Len Kemp, MD, president of the Arkansas Academy of Family Physicians. “The steps they are taking will lead to higher quality care for all.”
To be considered for the award, practices submitted an online application demonstrating their performance on quality measures and their participation in nationwide initiatives to prevent and treat chronic disease. Applicants were evaluated for outcomes and activities in calendar year 2016.
“The Arkansas Osteopathic Medical Association commends Saline Med-Peds Group for its dedication to providing quality, coordinated care to its patients” said Dewey McAfee, DO, AOMA president. “Its commitment is making Arkansas communities healthier.”
